Our Model

A community where the people are the community.

How Bais Tefilah is designed, and why.

You’ve read the homepage.

The principles are the same — proximity, real responsibility for kids, tradition giving the rhythm, the community running the community. This page is for the part that doesn't fit on a homepage: what it actually means once you're inside it.

Who tends to feel at home here.

People who want to live deliberately. Families who chose to be here. Anyone who's noticed the default American pattern isn't quite working — long commutes, isolated houses, kids raised by screens and peer groups.

You don't need a particular background to fit in. You just need to want to be a real neighbor.

What this asks of you.

Most communities promise an easy welcome and quietly expect conformity once you’re inside. We’d rather just be honest about what this asks of you, up front, so you can decide for yourself.

Bais Tefilah is a project, not a service. The shul, the kiddush, the kids’ groups, the daily rhythm. All of it runs because the families running it carry their share — in time, in resources, and in attention.

Bais Tefilah is a project, not a service.

In exchange, what we offer is direction, purpose, and a community that actually knows you. Real belonging, not subscription. That’s the trade. We think it’s a good one.

Bais Tefilah community space

Our shul is a home.

We started in someone’s garage. Today we have a beautiful space — air-conditioned, well-lit, with a huge yard where kids from toddlers to teens play, a Ladies and Babies Lounge with its own recently renovated room, and fresh kids’ areas. Kiddush is the social heart of the week: kids running between the yard and the kiddush tables, adults trading thoughts on the parsha and on life. The American suburb pulls every part of life into its own separate facility. We’re putting community life back where it belongs.
